I'm new and my name is Rob

Post  xxRobxx on Thu Dec 15, 2011 10:13 pm

My name is Rob. I don't know what to tell about myself that would be interesting enough to read.
I was married for 18 years and have three children. My wife and I split up because of irreconcilable differences, and she is now re-married and moved with our children to North Dakota. I get to see the kids maybe twice a year if I am lucky. I was born and raised in Mansfield Ohio which is where I live currently. I have 2 years of college under my belt, my major was American Literature. I always wanted to be a teacher but that dream never panned out. My wife was never very supportive of my goals, she expected that a man should work and support his family, provide for them in every-way and she had very expensive tastes, yet would take on none of the work load. So, I quit school and went to work full time. I found out late in our marriage that hard earned cash was paying for my wife and her new boyfriend to have the most lavish vacations. Lucky them. I can't blame her completely for what has happened between us. We stopped communicating a long time ago. It had been over a year in our marriage since we even shared the same bed and then there was a year of separation. We talked, tried to work things out but it can never be the way that it once was. Too much has changed and we are now, both very different people. I am sad that my marriage ended, but at the same time I feel free. I am able to do things for myself now, and not out of obligation to someone that doesn't appreciate all that I have done. I can be a very kind and generous person, though I admit, I expect something in return. I want a friend, I want someone to be there when I don't want to be alone. These are things that my wife never able to provide me with. Maybe now I can turn over a new leaf, start on a new path, and discover myself anew.
